Alamo Drafthouse Las Colinas Grand Opening Set For May 1

Hot on the heels of last month’s debut of Alamo Drafthouse Lake Highlands in East Dallas, Alamo Drafthouse DFW is pleased to announce that their first location in Irving, Alamo Drafthouse Las Colinas, will open for discounted staff training days on Tuesday, April 17th and celebrate its official Grand Opening on May 1st.

Alamo Drafthouse Las Colinas is the acclaimed cinema-eatery’s fourth location in Dallas-Fort Worth and is part of the new Toyota Music Factory entertainment complex. It features Alamo Drafthouse’s signature mix of first-run films and curated specialty programming, an extensive made-from-scratch food and beverage menu, luxury recliner seating throughout every auditorium, and a direct view of Toyota Music Factory’s performances stages from the theater’s bar, Vetted Well.

"Alamo Las Colinas has been a long time coming. We started looking at this site over three years ago, and to see it finally become a reality is a lot of fun,” says Alamo Drafthouse DFW COO Bill DiGaetano. “Being a part of a true entertainment development only enhances what we do as a theater brand and the experience for our guests will be second to none from the minute they park their car and come into the theater."

Given its proximity to John W. Carpenter Freeway, named for the Texas businessman and agriculturalist who died in 1959, the Alamo Drafthouse creative team decided to have a bit of cheeky fun. The signature theme of the lobby and walkways will honor a very different John Carpenter, namely the legendary filmmaker behind HALLOWEEN, THE THING, and ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK. The lobby’s state-of-the-art interchangeable photo opp wall will feature homages to a few of the director’s most iconic films, as well as a complete John Carpenter-themed Mondo poster gallery haunting the hallways, alongside rare posters of vintage sci-fi classics.

Staff training days begin April 17th, where those eager to get a first taste of Alamo Drafthouse Las Colinas can enjoy discounted food and non-alcoholic drinks while staff train in the new space, and the official Grand Opening will be held on May 1st. Tickets go on sale soon at drafthouse.com, and guests will be able to enjoy the best of Hollywood and independent cinema, like the upcoming AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR and DEADPOOL 2, along with Alamo Drafthouse’s eclectic repertory programming. Naturally, Alamo Drafthouse Las Colinas will also open with a month-long John Carpenter retrospective celebrating the filmmaker and the theater’s theme.

Alamo Drafthouse Las Colinas’ seven auditoriums range in size from 28 to 151 seats, with combined seating for 712 moviegoers. Additionally, guests inside Vetted Well or seated on the bar’s second-floor outdoor patio will have a bird’s eye view of the musical acts performing daily on the stages of Texas Music Center’s Texas Lottery Plaza. Validated parking is available for guests parking in the Texas Music Center parking garage.

Alamo Drafthouse Las Colinas continues the company’s high standards of delivering the best possible theatrical experience to its guests including Alamo Drafthouse’s famous and strict “No Talking or Texting” during the film. Each of the auditoriums will be equipped with state of the art 4K digital projection and 7.1 Dolby Surround Sound, and the theater will be equipped with 35mm projection. Each auditorium is equipped with luxury recliner seating, with the front row having foot rests. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy curated pre-show entertainment. Instead of a barrage of advertising, Alamo Drafthouse presents a pre-show of rare (and often hilarious) clips specifically tailored to the feature film.
