MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE FALLOUT – A Review by Hollywood Hernandez
Mission: Impossible Fallout is the sixth MI movie with Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt. It's been a very bankable series of movies that began in 1996, with the previous 5 films grossing over $3 billion worldwide! Part of the worldwide appeal is the action. You don't have to understand any English to enjoy the incredible action stunts in the movie, many of which are performed by Cruise himself.
In Mission: Impossible Fallout, Hunt and his MI Team (Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames) are in a race against time to keep a terrorist team, called The Apostles, from getting some black market plutonium and exploding two nuclear bombs. The movie is actually a sequel to the previous MI movie, Rogue Nation, and it picks up with bad guy Solomon Lane (played by Sean Harris), who is out for revenge and wants to create a New World Order.
Angela Bassett is back as Erica Sloan, the head of the C.I.A. and Henry Cavill plays August Walker, one of her top C.I.A. operatives who goes head to head with Cruise in the movie. Spoiler Alert: we find out that Walker has sold out MI and tries to frame Hunt as the bad guy in the movie.
The plot is a bit muddy but this film is all about the action. Even after breaking his ankle shooting a stunt scene, Cruise still had the nerve to continue with the movie's action scenes and with his star power, even at age 56, creates a very seamless movie where the action never stops.
The movie is a bit long, 2 hours and 27 minutes, but the time passes quickly with the pulsating action that appears on the big screen for most of the movie. Mission: Impossible Fallout is rated PG-13 for some blood and violence and on my "Hollywood Popcorn Scale", I rate the movie a JUMBO.
