Michael King (Shane Johnson) is a man with a beautiful family.  He doesn’t believe in God but he does believe in filmmaking.  At a family picnic in the park, Michael is videoing his wife, daughter and the family dog.  He is so happy he tells his wife he is going to make a documentary about his family so everyone can see how happy he is.  His wife takes some quarters to feed the meter.  Michael’s life will never be the same.

With his wife’s death, Michael life begins a downhill spiral.  He decides to make a documentary where he investigates black magic.  What is he looking for?  He is looking to find out if he can find his wife’s spirit.  He doesn’t believe in God so he doesn’t really believe he is going to find anything.

He goes to spiritualists, necromancers, and all manner of black magic users.  In experiencing each of their various religions (or non-religions), he takes all manner of drugs.  He even takes some things that most people have never heard of.

Slowly you realize that one of two things is happening.  Either Michael is going insane or he is being possessed.  His work suffers; the stuff we see him shoot is weird.  REALLY weird.  We see things happening to him that the average person cannot explain.

The film doesn’t tell you definitively what is happening to Michael.  The filmmakers feel that you can make up your own mind, based on your own personal beliefs.  I am sure of one thing.  I have seen a LOT of films over my lifetime and this one was rough for me to watch.  Some of the things he does, to himself and others, are freaky, I mean nasty freaky!

If you like really visual horror films, this is the film for you to watch.  Watch The Possession of Michael King and judge for yourself if what you see happening is real or just a figment of his psyche.
