The Texas Theatre, in partnership with the famed SouthFork Ranch is proud to announce a new weekly interactive series of ‘DALLAS’ screenings, beginning Sunday, March 27th @ 8:00pm at the Texas Theatre in Oak Cliff. Every Sunday, 2 full episodes will be screened until the entire 16 season series is complete. Guests are encouraged to dress up like their favorite DALLAS characters and prizes (including a free tours and hotel stay at Southfork Ranch and Southfork Hotel) will be awarded weekly for “best dressed”. There will also be members of the original cast and crew in attendance each week, participating in trivia and Q&A’s with the audience. Attendance is FREE but guests are encouraged to (ahem) purchase concessions and drinks at the brand new Texas Theatre bar!
Janna Timm, Regional Director of Marketing for Southfork Ranch is excited about the weekly event, “The pilot for the new “Dallas” television series is ramping up to film in the spring so this is a great time to bring the show back into focus! Fans can refresh themselves on the plots and the younger generation can get the background story this way! I can’t wait to see the big hair, shoulder pads and cowboy hats!”
The evening proceedings will be hosted by none other of than JOCK EWING himself as created by performance wunderkind Bryan Campbell the man behind FAUX FOX and GEORGE QUARTZ. “JOCK” has made some rather infamous appearances over the last year. These events promise to become something of a cultural phenomenon revamping the long talked about series.

About ‘DALLAS’

Dallas is an American prime time soap opera that revolves around the Ewings, a wealthy Texas family in the oil and cattle-ranching industries. Throughout the series, Larry Hagman stars as greedy, scheming oil baron J. R. Ewing. The show also starred Patrick Duffy as younger brother Bobby Ewing, veteran actress Barbara Bel Geddes as family matriarch Miss Ellie, and veteran actor Jim Davis in his last role as Ewing patriarch Jock Ewing before his death in 1981.

The show debuted in April 1978 as a five-part miniseries on the CBS network, and then was subsequently broadcast for thirteen seasons from April 2, 1978 to May 3, 1991.Dallas was included in Time magazine's 2007 list of "100 Best TV Shows of All-TIME." The show was also famous for its cliffhangers, including the "Who shot J.R.?" mystery, and the "Dream Season", in which everything that transpired during season eight was later revealed to have been all a dream.

History of Southfork Ranch

History at Southfork began in 1978, when Lorimar Productions chose the North Texas showplace as the site for the CBS-TV series "Dallas". The hit series, which counted millions of viewers across the United States and in 95 foreign countries as fans, was originally broadcast in the United States from 1978 to 1991. The series continues to be broadcast in syndication and still is in first-run status in many countries around the world. Because of the ranch's high profile on television, the beautiful white mansion, the pool, the barns and surroundings quickly became a tourist mecca.
The original owner of the ranch and his family were actually in residence at Southfork as the filming began. When requests for private parties began to pour in, tents were erected and a small party pavilion was built to accommodate these types of events. However, tourism finally took its toll on the family, as it became increasingly hard to live privately in what had become Dallas' leading visitor attraction.

The Texas Theatre (located on 231 W. Jefferson Blvd in Oak Cliff) is a historic movie theatre that also hosts concerts, events, theatrical productions and “Rough Cut Lab” screenings for filmmakers. When first opened in 1931, the Texas Theatre was the largest suburban movie theater in Dallas and was part of a chain of theaters once owned by Howard Hughes. The theatre is widely known as the location where Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested in 1963. In August of 2010, Aviation Cinemas Inc, a company started by film producer and consultant Barak Epstein, signed a lease to operate the theater.  The Aviation Cinemas team consists of filmmakers Adam Donaghey, Eric Steele, and creative director Jason Reimer.   Aviation Cinemas has constructed a new full service bar and concession stand and are in the process of upgrading the projection and sound in the 650 seat house for both 35mm and digital cinema. The theatre is currently booking all sorts of independent films and events, including this years Dallas premiers of “Sweethearts of the Prison Rodeo” and “Strange Powers” and the Dallas theatrical premier of “Virtual JFK” presented in conjunction with the Dallas Video Fest. During the event on Dec. 9th, the new bar, concession stand and other amenities will be on display. Come join us for cocktails, free popcorn, catering from local favorite restaurants and an official tour of the historic space (including Oswald’s infamous seat).
