ADIEU LACAN – Interview with Filmmaker Richard C. Ledes

Filmmaker Richard C. Ledes latest movie is a fictionalized session from the life of the infamous real-life psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan.  The story is inspired by author and psychoanalyst Betty Milan’s work about Lacan.  Richard chatted with our Gadi Elkon about the visual choices for the film, the cast, and of course Lacan’s impact.

A young woman Seriema, who is trying to understand why her path to motherhood has reached an unbearable impasse, travels to Paris to do psychoanalysis with the maverick French psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan.

The film stars David Patrick Kelly as Lacan and Ismenia Mendes as Seriema.  Richard C. Ledes and Gadi talked about the classic films that inspired the black & white look of the film.  They also discussed Richard long working partnership with his cinematographer Valentina Caniglia and much more of the visual feel of the movie.  Here is the full interview with Richard C.
