5 time Emmy Award Winner, Jack Burditt, returned to the Austin Film Festival this year and it was a real pleasure to have an in-depth sit down with the talented Writer/Producer. Click through for my favorite chat from AFF 2015.
A little fun video!
Writer/Producer Jack Burditt comes from a family deeply involved in the TV and Entertainment world. He's also a long time guest and speaker at the annual Austin Film Festival. It's almost a certainty you've seen an episode he wrote or produced. How I know that is that he's worked on so many shows it's impossible to not have been impacted by his writing. From Mad About You, Frasier, The Mindy Project, Just Shoot Me, The Last Man Standing, the recent Netflix hit Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt or his amazing work on 30 Rock, you know this guy's work! Jack was awesome enough to sit down for nearly an hour and discuss his life, his parents, his children, all of his great shows and even had time to tell me a few incredible stories about surviving life in NYC and LA.
By far this is the most in-depth interview we conducted at AFF 2015. Sit back and enjoy looking at the amazing life and career of Writer/Producer Jack Burditt.
More information about Jack via the AFF website:
Born and raised in Cleveland, OH, and later in Burbank, CA, graduated from Burbank High School. Worked too many odd jobs to list, but did longer stints at Six Flags Magic Mountain, Lockheed, the Los Angeles Daily News and the Los Angeles Herald Examiner, before becoming a script reader (Disney, Tri-Star) and later a TV writer. Credits include “Mad About You,” “Frasier,” “Just Shoot Me,” “The New Adventures of Old Christine,” “30 Rock,” “The Mindy Project,” and “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.” Also, created “Last Man Standing” and co-created “DAG,” a sitcom about the Secret Service, which I sort of wish I was doing now because its bumbling antics seem ripe for comedy. Keeps insisting he doesn’t live in New York even though he’s spent seven of the past nine years there. Winner of four WGA Awards.
