BABY ASSASSINS – A Blu-ray/DVD and Digital HD Review by John Strange

This is not your average pair of killers for hire.  Chisato (Akari Takaishi) and Mahiro (Saori Izawa) are teenagers who work for an agency in Japan that trained them to be assassins.  At the beginning of the movie (in between jobs) their handler informs them that they must live in an apartment together and get… part-time regular jobs!

These two are not your normal teens.  They are very good at killing but working regular jobs?  Not so good.

The two young ladies are as different as night and day excepting their killing abilities.  Chisato is more outgoing.  Poor Mahiro is painfully shy without a fight going on around her.  These traits really become obvious as they try to work their part-time jobs, some of which could ONLY exist in Japan’s culture.

Throw in Yakuza thugs and their bosses and you have a story that simply doesn’t slow down from start to finish.  LOTS of killing, some for pay.  Teenage girls being teenage girls (though these have GUNS).

Baby Assassins is a fun film with lots of quirky scenes that include a few very well-choreographed fights making this film a 5-star film.  This film has been on the festival circuit and did very well with its audiences.   I can now understand why!  Check it out!
