Bernhardt on Broadway
Margo Jones Theater, Magnolia Lounge, Fair Park, Dallas
John Strange
Carol grew up with the acting bug, to the point that her mother called her a little Sarah Bernhardt. Jump forward many years and Carol decides to write her own show. Following research into Mme. Bernhardt, reading some of the books in the lady’s native French, Carol sat down and wrote a one woman musical.
Channeling Sarah Bernhardt to tell us of her life and adventures, Ms. Dunitz breaks into song to help tell the story. The songs are original and at times a bit bawdy livened with the occasional dance step. These stories tell of her hardships and friendships, her loves and her adventures.
Carol has been performing her show all over the country this summer with the hopes of moving the show to Broadway. I liked this play. I hope someone steps up and assists her to bring her show to the Great White Way.
