Writer/Director Christopher Boone's feature film debut, CENTS, is a heartfelt and moving look at a young girl's journey. Interview with CENTS Writer/Director Christopher Boone:
Chris and I first talked about the impact of his wonderful mom on his life but not necessarily this film.
The film is much more a look into the life of young Sammy, played brilliantly by newcomer Julia Flores. I asked Chris about what type of character he wanted out of Sammy and the connection back to his own daughter.
Christopher's daughter's real school was one of the test screenings for the film and he talked about the impact those screenings had.
I asked Chris about shooting and living in New Mexico and the film/tv scene that has become one of the country's real hotbeds for shooting.
Not only was the film shot in New Mexico, but the majority of the cast is from the area. Chris talked about the casting process for the film.
Chris expanded on the incredible location scouting that went on for the film and the fun connection to Breaking Bad through these locations.
The music in the film was really moving and fit the scenes so well. I asked Chris about working with his composer Kathryn Bostic.
Lastly Christopher and I are both huge fans of the Austin Film Festival. Christopher has been a panel moderator for the past 4 years and he shared some of his favorite moments from AFF.
