Today, LATINAFest announced that Chase for Business will be returning as the Presenting Sponsor for LATINAFest: Mind, Body, Soul, the biggest gathering on the West Coast celebrating the Latina entrepreneurial spirit. Created in 2018 by entrepreneurs Bel Hernandez and Naibe Reynoso, LATINAFest aims to empower and support the key growth engine of the U.S. female population, Latinas. The 4th annual LATINAFest takes place on Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM (PST) at La Plaza de Cultura y Artes in downtown Los Angeles.
“We are proud to be collaborating once again with Chase,” said Bel Hernandez, CEO of Latin Heat Media and Co-Founder of LATINAFest. “This year’s theme, Somos Magia / We are Magic, is a testament to the power of the 200 percenters: 100% Latina and 100% American. We are Americans who live and celebrate the richness of both our American and Latino roots”.
The bank will once again present the Chase Pavilion, which will highlight 10 local Latino/a-owned businesses who have successfully grown their companies through the Chase for Business mentorship program. This effort is part of a firmwide, multi-year $30 billion commitment to help businesses, families, and local economies that have traditionally been shut out from opportunities to create and sustain generational wealth. The program pairs up minority business owners with a Chase senior business consultant who provides free one-on-one coaching, mentorship, banking and credit solutions as well as community resources. To date, the initiative has created an opportunity for 1,500 entrepreneurs in more than 20 U.S. cities, including here in Los Angeles.
“The pandemic and growing economic pressures continue to have adverse impacts on small businesses, especially minority-owned,” said Mikal Quarles, Managing Director and Head of Racial Equity Strategies, Chase for Business. “That’s why we launched this free program in 21 U.S. cities to improve access to tools, advice and capital for local entrepreneurs who need it most. We want to help more minority entrepreneurs to recover and scale, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to join LATINAFest in this mission.”
According to the 2021 Latina Pulse: Champions of Change study , “Latinas are almost two times more likely to own or plan to open their own business in the next 3 years compared to non-Latinas”. By 2023, Latino/a purchasing power is expected to reach $1.9 trillion, adding up to significant economic and electoral clout.
“Latinas are the backbone of our community and vital to the nation’s economy,” said Silvana Montenegro, Global Head of Advancing Hispanics & Latinos at JPMorgan Chase. “As the fastest-growing segment, Latina small business owners need the resources and tools to help them thrive and achieve sustainable goals. This is why we are proud to support the mission of LATINAfest to empower and promote the growth of Latina entrepreneurs across the nation.”
The 2nd annual HERO WOMAN RISING ENTREPRENEUR GRANT will be co-presented by Chase for Business and LATINAFest once again this year. The $5K grant will be awarded at LATINAFest to a Latina business owner who has shown improved growth, leadership, and promise within her business community. Open submission details and deadline will be posted August 15 on the LATINAFest website.
“Latinas are entrepreneurial, resilient, and hard-working,” said Naibe Reynoso, Founder of Con Todo Press and Co-Founder of LATINAFest. “ The Chase Pavilion at LATINAFest is a great example of the success they have in empowering Latina entrepreneurs, especially in Los Angeles. Because, when Latina entrepreneurs thrive, so do our communities, neighborhoods, and families.”
