MUPPET BABIES: TIME TO PLAY! – A DVD Review by John Strange

For fans of the Muppets and their spin-off Muppet Babies, this disk is an enjoyable way for your kids to spend an afternoon!  The episodes contain two stories each.  As you would expect, along with a good dose of Muppet-style humor, you get two lessons per show/episode.  The lessons range from dealing with the fear of the dark to sharing.

Along the way we get the humor and music we have, as a generation (or three), have come to depend upon.  The setting of the stories is a nursery school where their teacher is Miss Nanny.  When you see this school you will wish you could have attended a school even half as cool.

The school is heavy on the art side which is good for this type of school.  The school room where the kids spend their time indoors appears to be on the second floor.  The Muppet Babies are encouraged to use their imaginations (and props galore)  which provide most of the episodes' storylines.

The playground outside is reached by three tunnel slides (like at water parks).  Outside you have a theater, an in-ground trampoline (designed to look like a frog pond), tables for arts and crafts, a great merry-go-round, and best of all, a HUGE tree house!

In addition to the episodes (plus the two bonus ones) we are given  the filmmakers have given us some interesting extras.  One group is a series of ten "shorts" that are quick little stories giving us more of what the Muppets are loved for.  We also are given six music videos taken from the episodes on the disk.  These will be fun for kids to sing along with at times when mom doesn't want to play the episodes.

This disk is a must for Muppet fans.  Not only do you get the babies, you get those two grumpy old men as the school's neighbors complete with their excellent snide remarks!
