MURDER MYSTERY 2 – A Review by John Strange
Nick and Audrey Spitz (Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston) are back. Following their triumph four years ago, they quit their jobs and are trying to make a go at being private detectives. And “trying” is the operative word here. They are NOT doing well.
When their old buddy the Maharaja (Adeel Akhtar) calls to invite them to his brand spanking new island to attend his wedding, they go for it. Then as their luck would have it, it’s left up to them to bumble their way through to the truth behind the wedding day kidnapping of their ginormously rich friend.
Watching this film was like watching one of the Pink Panther movies. These two chuckleheads bumble and pratfall their way through the investigation, eventually going from the tropical island to Paris, France.
This is a fun watch with hi-jinks and Keystone Cops-like scenes that still seem to work! The audience attending my screening was laughing in all of the right places.
Add in magnificent scenery, a few dramatic scenes filled with death and destruction, and a slew of snarky lines and you have a good idea about Murder Mystery 2.
Is this going to knock off any other off films on the charts? Probably not. But you can watch it in the theater or in the privacy of your home on Netflix and have a bunch of good laughs. This is what I expect of most Adam Sandler movies. It did not disappoint me.
