Supermensch: The Legend Of Shep Gordon is Mike Myer’s documentary about Shep Gordon.  Shep moved from the east coast to Los Angeles in the late 1960’s into a motel inhabited by the likes of Jimi Hendrix ands Janis Joplin.  One day he was told something that changed his life forever, “You’re Jewish, you should be a manager!”

Shep Gordon has guided the careers some amazing people.  Musicians like Alice Cooper (his first client) and Anne Murray; actors like Michael Douglas, Sylvester Stallone and Tom Arnold; and chefs like Emeril Lagasse and Dean Fearing.

Shep’s life story is possibly the most improbable I have ever witnessed.  His luck with women, his survival despite the amount for recreational pharmaceuticals he ingested, the stunts he pulled to get his clients noticed by the public are the stuff of legend, to use a phrase I didn’t think I’d ever truly have a reason for using.

The other side of the story, Shep’s personal life, has been filled with love and loss.  The women in his life have been both varied and amazing.  Sadly, he has never had a lasting love relationship.  All of his long term relationships have been with his clients who are also his best friends.

This is a story that every lover of music, film, heck, of celebrity chefs, needs to see.  I was fascinated by it.  I think you will be, too!
