Continuing a successful run of recent virtual programming, Symphony Space is announcing two upcoming events including a conversation between two of the biggest names in film, as well as the iconic public radio series, available directly from home.

First, Virtual Selected Shorts returns with the theme “Little Rebellions.” It’s the third virtual event in the iconic series that for more than 30 years has been presenting great actors reading extraordinary short stories to enraptured New York audiences, live from the stage, as well as to devoted national audiences through the hit weekly public radio show. Virtual Selected Shorts allows fans, new and old, far and wide, to experience a night of amazing storytelling as actors deliver memorable performances directly from their homes.

On Wednesday, July 15 at 7:30PM EST actors Nate Corddry (Perry Mason), Ann Dowd (The Handmaid’s Tale), Jane Kaczmarek (Malcolm in the Middle), and Randall Park (Fresh Off the Boat) perform stories highlighting how one little insurgency can make or break a relationship. Featuring stories from authors Amelia Gray, Haruki Murakami, Robert Sheckley, and Elizabeth Winthrop. Hosted by Jane Kaczmarek.

On Tuesday, July 21 at 7:30PM EST join two of Hollywood’s biggest names for what is sure to be a fascinating conversation for any film buff. Oscar-winning writer and director Oliver Stone shares Chasing the Light: Writing, Directing, and Surviving Platoon, Midnight Express, Scarface, Salvador and the Movie Game, an intimate memoir of his storied career and unique upbringing. As part of the Virtual Thalia Book Club series, Stone is in conversation with four-time Academy Award nominee Ethan Hawke, who next stars in Showtime’s upcoming series The Good Lord Bird, which he also executive produced and co-wrote.
