Tasher Desh, a film by Q, presented by NFDC, to release on 23 Aug 2013

NFDC (National Film Development Corporation Ltd), announced today the theatrical release of the Bengali film- Tasher Desh, directed by avant garde filmmaker Q (Qaushiq Mukherkee), with English subtitles, in Mumbai and Kolkata in select screens, on 23rd Aug, 2013. This will be Q’s first film to release in India at this scale.

In Kolkata, the film will be showcased in 10 screens, distributed through Priya Entertainment, whereas, in Mumbai it will be a date and date release in partnership with PVR cinemas, under the Director’s Rare banner, across its select properties.

An international co-production, Tasher Desh is produced by NFDC (National Film Development Corporation Ltd), Overdose Joint, AKFPL (Anurag Kashyap Films Pvt Ltd), Dream Digital Inc and Entre Chien et Loup (Belgium).

Tasher Desh, a definitive quirky and edgy adaptation of Tagore’s play fantasy, brings together an eclectic mix of international and Indian music artists to collaborate on Tagore’s celebrated soundtrack, including Susheela Raman, Sam Mills, Anusheh, Asian Dub Foundation, Eric Truffaz, Moog Conspiracy, Tanmoy Bose, Anusheh, Sahana Bajpai, Jens chr. Bugge Wesseltoft, Tanmoy Bose, Jivraj Singh, Diego, Arijit Chakraborty, Seth Blumberg, Esme Folley, Nirmalya de Biswas, Mainak Nag ChoudhurI.

The film stars Tillotama Shome, Rii, Imaad Shah, Tinu Verghis, Joyraj Bhattacharjee, Soumyak Kanti De Biswas, Anubrata Basu, and Maya Tideman amongst others.

Having made its World Premiere in competition at the Rome Film Festival 2012, the film made it to official selections at the Imagine: Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival, Scarborough Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, and most recently at the London Indian Film Festival in 2013.
