WARDEN – A Review by John Strange
When I was a kid, my life revolved around comic books. I always wondered what it would be like to have powers like Superman. The new film, Warden, from Brazil, takes this idea one step further.
Shot in a pseudo-documentary format; the film follows Daniel Dias as he begins to use the powers he has discovered he has. As an adopted child whose birth parents died (father before his birth and his mother after the birth), he was raised to be a good person.
This is not a movie like any of the Marvel or DC films. It is a look at a young man who is trying to do what is best for his hometown of Nova São Paulo, Brazil. It is a dark look at the wrong side of mankind as the young man, who takes on the moniker of WARDEN, listens to the advice of people who have agendas that are not fully aligned with his.
I had problems watching this film. It turns darker and darker with each scene. It is not the dream I had of being a superhero but something closer to what the world we live in might produce. Watch this film on a good week, not a bad one.
