Call for Entries opened today exclusively on Film Freeway for the 22nd edition of the Sound Unseen Film + Music Festival, which will take place November 10-14, 2021. The film festival will once again be offered virtually to both Minnesota and Texas, with the potential to expand to a hybrid approach with in-person screenings in Minneapolis and Austin.
Upon its debut in 1999, Sound Unseen immediately introduced itself as a unique, cutting edge “films on music” festival in Minneapolis/St. Paul and has established itself as one of the premiere niche festivals in the country, a destination film festival for filmmakers, industry veterans and film journalists, and routinely lauded by publications like MovieMaker Magazine and Filmmaker Magazine. Sound Unseen now ranks as an important and vital part of the regional film festival circuit and cultural scene.
Sound Unseen Festival Director Jim Brunzell and Program Director Rich Gill, said, “This year we will build upon the success of our virtual screenings and presentations in both Minnesota and Texas, with the hope that we can return to our familiar and beloved theaters in Minneapolis as well as offering our first screenings in Austin. Sound Unseen is unique in our dedication to the celebration of music artists and music-themed subjects on film and those two cities are so rich in that history and culture that joining them together through our event makes sense and literally doubles the benefit to our filmmakers.”
When it comes to prizes, to paraphrase HIGHLANDER: “There can only be one.” Sound Unseen awards a Best Film from the festival’s competition titles (competition films are selected by Sound Unseen staff) and a five-person jury deliberates to choose the winning film.
