One thing you can truly say about a film starring Jason Statham is that the action scenes will be fast-paced and violent. And that can make them fun to watch. And when they have a good backstory, they make money.
Levon Cade (Jason Statham) spent many years in the Royal Marines. It meant he was away on deployments a lot. He left the service after the death of his wife. He moved to Chicago to be near his daughter who lives with his father-in-law.
He finds work with the Garcia family’s construction firm. He does well with the company, working as a foreman at the construction site.
When Jenny Garcia (Arianna Rivas) is abducted while out with her girlfriends, the Royal Marine has to fall back on his training to save the girl whose back he promised to have.
Joe, Carla, and Jenny Garcia (Michael Peña, Noemi Gonzalez, and Miss Rivas), made a place for Levon and have become family to him. And that is the heart of this film. Family is not just blood but those who are there for you, and who love you.
The film was fun to watch. David Harbour as Gunny, a friend from his military days, was a hoot! He may be blind but hearing him say the words “Weapons Sommelier” was priceless!
