Alamo Richardson Special Programming: 80th Anniversary of Prohibition Repeal Day (Dec 5) and Evening with THE HOBBIT (Dec 12-13)

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema – Richardson (100 S. Central Expressway #14, Richardson, TX 75080) celebrates an anniversary from real history books and another from JRR Tolkien’s Middle Earth “history”.
Prohibition Night – Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013
On January 16, 1919, Congress passed the 18th Amendment, outlawing alcohol in an effort to hopefully put an end to drunkenness, crime, and poverty, ushering in 13 years of Prohibition. Ironically, America's thirst for alcohol increased during Prohibition, and organized crime rose up to replace formerly legal methods of production and distribution.
On December 5, 1933, Congress ratified the 21st Amendment, repealing Prohibition and restoring the American freedom to drink.
Tickets are now on sale for Thursday, December 5, 2013, Prohibition Night, in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the repeal! Get your illegal drink on from 7-8 pm in Glass Half Full Tap Room inside the Alamo- Richardson lobby with Prohibition-era cocktails, moonshine, 1930s music, a “Meet The Distiller” with Herman Marshall Whiskey, and more!
Then join us at 8 pm for a special showing of LAWLESS, paired with a conversation "The Wettest County in the World" author Matt Bondurant, the book in which LAWLESS is adapted from. Bondurant's grandfather, Jack Bondurant, and two granduncles ran a massive moonshining operation in the mountains of southwest Virginia and are the subject of his novel and the film.
