Broadway Dallas Hosts Spotlight Dinner Celebrating & JULIET

On Monday, February 3, Broadway Dallas patrons Catalina Gonzalez Jorba and Santiago Jorba transported guests back to Verona, Italy at their stunning Architectural Digest-featured home in Highland Park in celebration of the Broadway production & JULIET and its Dallas-native cast members, Rachel Simone Webb and Shelby Griswold, currently on stage at the Music Hall at Fair Park. Sixty attendees mixed, mingled, and delighted in the juxtaposition of antiques and vibrant hues throughout the home at this dinner, which is part of the Broadway Dallas Spotlight Dinner Series presented by PNC Bank. Now in its third year, the Spotlight Dinner Series is an exclusive, ticketed opportunity for patrons to dine in exceptional Dallas homes, themed to a current or upcoming Broadway production, and benefitting the organization’s ongoing artistic and education initiatives.

The evening began with a couture cocktail reception, featuring show-themed “Romeo” and “Juliet” drinks courtesy of Constellation Brands, as guests meandered through the glowing European ambiance of the exquisite home and outdoor space. Broadway Dallas President and CEO, Ken Novice welcomed guests then led a Q&A session with & JULIET cast members Rachel Simone Webb and Shelby Griswold. Webb, who graduated from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts currently stars in the titular role of “Juliet.” Following the Q&A, Griswold, & JULIET ensemble member and a 2016 Broadway Dallas High School Musical Theatre Award-winner, graced everyone with a moving performance of “That’s The Way It Is” from the production.

A contemporary, curated three-course Italian dinner catered by Art 2 Catering was served, featuring a wild mushroom and spinach ravioli with truffle cream, beef braciole with shaved asparagus and risotto alla milanese, finished with a chocolate tartlet with candied grapefruit peel and caramel gelati for dessert. HALL wines were poured throughout the evening as guests gathered at jewel-toned tables adorned with florals from Bottega de Flores. The evening concluded with an encore performance of “Jolene” by Griswold. In attendance were:  Helen and Brendan McGuire, Paul Waggoner and Kymberley Scalia, Gina and Pepe Hermosillo, Elizabeth and Mark Cannon, Lynn Fisher and Bobby Mahurin, Andrea Shurley, Casey Thompson, and more.
