Miles Axelrod (Eddie Izzard), once an oil magnate, has created t a new alternative fuel source called Allinol. To promote it, he decides to fund a special race where all of the best cars in the world run on his new fuel. This World Gran Prix will be run on three different course around the world to give each of the different cars a chance to prove their mettle.
Secret agent Finn McMissile (Michael Caine) is investigating the disappearance of his colleague Leland Turbo (Jason Isaacs). He uncovers a sinister plot that involves a TV camera with the World Gran Prix logo on it and the crushed body of Turbo.
Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) and his best friend, tow truck Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) find their friendship stretched to the limits as Lightning races his heart out to win and Mater, pulled into the world the secret agents, bumbles from one problem to the next. Get this; evil agents are trying to kill him for what they believe he knows. We watch Mater working with some of the world’s best spies and having the time of his life. Lightning finds a new friend in Formula One racer and rival for the World Gran Prix victor, Francesco Bernoulli (John Turturro), and learns that friendship is not always easy.
This is a fun movie to watch. The voice talent is first rate and the action is exciting. The adults will enjoy the story as much as the kids (who will learn a good lesson from Lightning and Mater about friendship and understanding).
