Cinemark Holdings, Inc, one of the world’s largest motion picture exhibitors, is pleased to announce a partnership with Best Movie Fest Ever to present the first of its monthly film series at ten Cinemark theatre locations across the country. “My Favorite Musicals,” featuring three award-winning musical classics, will take place on Saturday, July 26th and Tuesday, July 29th.

This mini film festival, which is being launched in partnership with Twentieth Century Fox, features all-time classic movies digitally re-mastered for the big screen; including a newly restored version of the beloved Academy Award® winning musical, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! (1955). Other classic screenings include Moulin Rouge! (2001), Director Baz Luhrmann’s Oscar®-winning drama starring Nicole Kidman, Ewan McGregor and John Leguizamo; and Hello, Dolly! (1969), the Academy Award-winning romantic comedy directed by Gene Kelly starring Barbra Streisand and Walter Matthau.

“We are excited to present these spectacular films as they were intended to be seen on the big screen and to create a fun, affordable event for everyone” Steve Bunnell, Executive Vice President of Global Content at Cinemark said.

The special 4K restoration of Oklahoma! will be screened at 30 frames per second — an identical frame rate as the film’s original release in 1955. Meticulously restored from 65mm Todd-AO elements by Twentieth Century Fox, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, and Fotokem, this stunning presentation captures as much detail from the film as possible. The beautiful images showcase the majesty of the frontier in a way never-before-seen and further magnified by the big screen!

John Hegeman, President of Distant Corners Entertainment, and founder of Best Movie Fest Ever, added:  “It’s fantastic that companies like Cinemark and Fox are committed to bringing new audiences to these classic titles and to providing an inexpensive summer experience that makes people feel good and leave with a smile.”

The price to see all three films is just $15. That includes special guest introductions, in theatre promotions and giveaways, concession stand discounts, and a coupon good for savings on Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment purchases.

Moulin Rouge!

Moulin Rouge! is a 2001 Australian–American romantic pastiche-jukebox musical film directed, produced, and co-written by Baz Luhrmann. It tells the story of a young English poet/writer, Christian (Ewan McGregor), who falls in love with the terminally-ill star of the Moulin Rouge, cabaret actress and courtesan Satine (Nicole Kidman). It uses the musical setting of the Montmartre Quarter of Paris, France. At the 74th Academy Awards, the film was nominated for eight Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actress for Nicole Kidman, winning two: for Best Art Direction and Best Costume Design. It was the first musical nominated for Best Picture in 10 years, following Disney's Beauty and the Beast (1991).

Oklahoma!

Oklahoma! is a 1955 musical film based on the 1943 stage musical Oklahoma!, written by composer Richard Rodgers and lyricist/librettist Oscar Hammerstein II and starring Gordon MacRae, Shirley Jones (in her film debut), Rod Steiger, Charlotte Greenwood, Gloria Grahame, Gene Nelson, James Whitmore and Eddie Albert. The production was the only musical directed by Fred Zinnemann. Oklahoma! was the first feature film photographed in the Todd-AO 70 mm widescreen process.

Hello, Dolly!

Hello, Dolly! is a musical with lyrics and music by Jerry Herman and a book by Michael Stewart, based on Thornton Wilder's 1938 farce The Merchant of Yonkers, which Wilder revised and retitled The Matchmaker in 1955.

Hello, Dolly! was first produced on Broadway by David Merrick in 1964, winning a record 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, a record held for 35 years. The show album Hello, Dolly! An Original Cast Recording was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2002. The album reached number one on the Billboard album chart on June 6, 1964 and was replaced the next week by Louis Armstrong's album "Hello, Dolly!"

The show has become one of the most enduring musical theatre hits, enjoying three Broadway revivals and international success. It was also made into a 1969 film that was nominated for seven Academy Awards.
