The clock is running out on the Kickstarter campaign for INTRAMURAL. Billed as “The epic sports movie…for the guys who don’t deserve one,” the film centers on a group of fifth-year seniors who form an intramural football team during their final year of college.
If you aren’t familiar with Kickstarter, the website helps independent projects obtain funding by providing a platform where artists can connect with potential backers. Project creators set a financial goal, but only receive the funding if the entire amount is pledged by a predetermined deadline. Production on “Intramural” is already underway in Austin, but the filmmakers created a Kickstarter page for equipment and post-production expenses. The deadline expires Tuesday, August 20th.
The cast roster includes Jake Lacy, Nikki Reed, BriTANick’s Brian McElhaney and Nick Kocher, and SNL cast members Jay Pharoah and Kate McKinnon. The filmmaker roster includes director Andrew Disney, screenwriter Bradley Jackson, and producers Russell Groves, Andrew Lee, David Ward, Red Sanders, and Tucker Moore. If you caught any of the filmmakers’ previous projects—“Searching for Sonny” (Lone Star Film Festival, Austin Film Festival), “Lord Montagu” (Dallas International Film Festival), “The Man Who Never Cried” (Doorpost Film Project, Hill Country Film Festival)—you might want to check out “Intramural.”
Visit the Kickstarter page for production details and filmmaker profiles, then pledge to support the project to receive backers-only updates and cast interviews. You have until Tuesday evening to join the team. Three, two, one…
