Cinematographer Allie Schultz had an in-depth chat with our Gadi Elkon about working as DP, her Texas ties, SXSW Festival and so much more! Here is our Interview with DP Allie Schultz.
Allie is a cinematographer and Texas native based in Los Angeles. She grew up working on the family cattle ranch, but put her boots up to attend Savannah College of Art and Design, where she earned a BFA in Film and Television. After working in the camera department on the Walking Dead, she attended the American Film Institute Conservatory and received a MFA in their globally recognized cinematography program.
Allie works in all formats, with a focus on narrative and commercials. Her films have gone on to screen at major festivals, including SXSW, Tribeca, and EnergaCAMERIMAGE. She is a 2022 International Cinematographers Guild Emerging Cinematographer Award recipient, which is the onlyaward show in the industry that specifically celebrates the work of up-and-coming cinematographers. Her most recent work includes shooting 2nd unit for Joker: Folie à Deux and shooting the thriller feature Imposters, which premiered at SXSW in 2026.
Allie talked with Gadi about going from College Station to Georgia and eventually landing in Los Angeles. Allie was able to discuss her many projects she’s worked on in camera crews as well as her work as an award-winning cinematographer. Allie discussed her recent work including films like IMPOSTER which just premiered at SXSW.
