LUCIFER: THE COMPLETE FIFTH SEASON – A Blu-ray/DVD and Digital HD Review by John Strange

LUCIFER: THE COMPLETE FIFTH SEASON – A Blu-ray/DVD and Digital HD Review by John Strange

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the Blu-raytm I reviewed in this Blog Post.  The opinions I share are my own.

Lucifer as a series has been an interesting experience so far.  Coming into season 5, we have gotten comfortable with fact that the Lord of Hell is actually a nice guy who just happened to fall in love with an LA police detective and learned all the good and bad things that go with that condition.  In fact, Lucifer has gone back to Hell, not because he particularly wanted to, but to protect those he has come to love from the demons who reside in that realm.

This season has Lucifer returning to Earth to deal with his twin brother, the Archangel Michael.  Sadly, this being is not the wonderful creature we have always imagined he was.  His machinations are so convoluted that it takes us most of the season to figure out just what the heck he is up to!

And for a special treat, God comes down from on high to see his kids.  Played by Dennis Haysbert, he is everything we expect from someone playing the Lord of All Creation.  His look, his demeanor, and his rich deep voice remind me of two other “Gods”, James Earl Jones and Morgan Freeman.

Sounds like a wild season with a wild storyline?  It is.  And it comes complete with appearances from the major Angels!

I binged this season (16 episodes) in less than three days.  The episodes hooked me, and it was hard to shut the TV off to get to other things necessary for a good quality of life (like sleeping, eating, and playing with my pups)!

If you read my reviews, you know how much I “love” deleted scenes and gag reels.  The bonus extras on the DVD set provided for me are only okay, all eight minutes of deleted scenes and the gag reel.
