The 2021 Out On Film festival kicked off this past week and finishes the 11-day adventure on October 3rd. This year marks the 34 edition of Atlanta’s LGBTQ festival with the last decade plus being under the direction of festival director Jim Farmer. Our Gadi Elkon chatted with Jim about his time at Out On Film, the diverse program this year, his Georgia roots and much more.
Established in 1987 by Rebecca Ranson and other community leaders, Out on Film eventually became a part of IMAGE Film and Video and later the Atlanta Film Festival. In 2008, Out on Film became an independent organization. What started as a five day festival has grown into an eleven day celebration of LGBTQ stories and artists including narrative features, documentaries, short films and premieres.
Festival Director Jim Farmer talked with our Gadi Elkon about his lineage from 2008 to present, his very own Georgia roots, the immersive and diverse program for this year’s program and so much more.
