PHOTOPHOBIA – Interview with Filmmakers Ivan Ostrochovsky & Pavol Pekarcik

Slovakia’s official submission for Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards is PHOTOPHOBIA.  Filmmakers Ivan Ostrochovsky & Pavol Pekarcik joined our Gadi Elkon for an enlightening look into this brave documentary.

12-year-old Niki and 11-year old Vika are hiding from the terrifying war at a Kharkiv metro station. Daylight is synonymous with mortal danger, and they are not allowed to leave, living under the constant glow of their neon lights.

Ivan and Pavol were kind enough to join Gadi for a lively chat about their bold documentary, PHOTOPHOBIA.  Pavol and Ivan talked about shooting during the current war in Ukraine inside of the Kharkiv metro station, the amazing people they met, and why they put themselves in harms way to capture the reality of the situation.
