PUPPY DOG PALS: PLAYTIME WITH PUPPY DOG PALS – A DVD Review by John Strange

Puppy Dog Pals is an animated show that follows the antics of Bingo (Issac Ryan Brown) and Rolly (Sam Lavagnino), two puppies owned by Bob (Harland Williams), an inventor who is constantly designing all sorts of odd things for them.  The household is a showplace for getting along with other species.  Hissy (Jessica DiCicco), is the cat who acts as the pup’s older sister. Their friends include a guinea pig named Cagey (Jeff Bennett) who lives at the pet store and Bulworth (Huey Lewis – yes, THAT Huey Lewis), the junkyard dog.

Their adventures take them all over the world, always between the time that Bob leaves for work and the time he returns home.  And what adventures they are!  From Australia’s Outback to deep under the ocean (or simply the local dog park) the puppies go on adventures with various friends and make numerous friends along the way.

This series is bright and cheerful.  Even the “heavies” continuously show their good sides.  Bob’s inventions allow the pups to do amazing things that will delight the kids in your household while showing them that differences between people (or cats/dog/birds/bugs etc.) can be a good thing rather than something to fear.

This DVD gives us 14 cartoons (7 episodes) and 8 bonus shorts from the series’ first two seasons.  All of these are excellent.  The stories have enough action to keep boys watching and enjoying and their sisters will love the interactions and cute animals (not that they won’t enjoy the action as well).

This is a good DVD for the young ones.  I highly recommend it!
