RULE BREAKERS – A Review by John Strange
Women using computers and building complicated electronic devices like robots. Here in the United States, it is no big deal. In Afghanistan, it has been a dream for the girls and women that the men of the Taliban disallowed. Roya Mahboob (Nikohl Boosheri) was born with a desire to learn and found a calling that dealt with all aspects of computer technology, In her native Afghanistan.
She is encouraged to set up a company to provide classrooms and instructors to teach young girls how to enter the modern world via the computer screen. It was not a smooth start-up. Some gunfire was involved.
This dream becomes an uphill battle as Roya and her brother, Ali (Noorin Gulamgaus), move to a new level and put together a team of Afghani girls to enter robotics competitions around the world.
The team of girls, led by the Mahboob sister and brother, faced seemingly insurmountable challenges to form the team. The difficulties encountered by the girls, as they strive to get to the competition cities, make the startup challenge seem almost trivial. Their story is uplifting as the girls show just how talented, and determined, each truly is.
This is the type of film you want your children to watch, both the boys and the girls. They all need to see what can be achieved when the heart and soul are drawn upon to reach your goal!
I expected nothing less than the quality of this film from Angel Studios. I have not reviewed their films for long, but each has been excellent in its own way!
