A Timeless Tradition: Looking Back 50 Years

Big Tex put in an early appearance that year. Workmen set him up in September for his role in the movie “State Fair,” but tailing winds from Hurricane Carla tore his clothes. The production crew was forced to shoot around him until repairs could be made.
