Studio Movie Grill The Colony Gives Back to the Community with “Cans Film Festival” Food Drive and Kicks Off Special Needs Screenings

Studio Movie Grill exists to open hearts and minds, one story at a time, by proudly supporting its local communities. August 10 through August 13, SMG The Colony will host its signature “Cans Film Festival” Food Drive to benefit Metro Relief, The Colony’s local food bank. Moviegoers who donate three or more canned goods or non-perishable food items during the food drive will receive a free ticket to any movie that day.

While the SMG Plano location is temporarily closed for remodeling, guests can still enjoy Special Needs Screenings at the new SMG The Colony. SMG is proud to feature these screenings to families raising children with special needs. First-run family movies

are shown with the lights up and volume lowered and children are free to move around, talk, or even dance in the aisle during the movie. SMG’s Special Needs Screenings are free to children with special needs and their siblings, while adults only pay the before noon matinee ticket price. Special Needs Screenings kick off August 15 and will continue throughout the year.

“I hope that if you have a special needs child, you will go check out these unique screenings. This is the one time we get to be together as a family and not worry about anything. It is one ‘normal’ thing we get to do, and for that, I am so grateful. I cannot adequately express how much this program means to me.” – SMG Specials Needs Parent
