Independent films run the gamut from amazing to terrible just like studio films, but with lower budgets. I enjoy independent films immensely because they are more likely to bring us new faces and talents than the others. SUNRAY: Fallen Soldier is a fine example of a good indie film.
Created by and starring a collective of former British Royal Marines Commandos, Britain’s elite special forces, the film is supposed to be the most accurate portrayal of Royal Marines combat ever seen on screen.
The story revolves around a war veteran who calls upon his old team when his daughter dies from tainted drugs. He is determined to make the people responsible for the girl’s death pay.
The story blends the two sides of the story into a well-structured play that brings us to the truth behind the death. The dialogue and the action are well-paced and keep us on the edge of our seats throughout the film.
This is a dark story following two families drawing toward a final confrontation where only one will live. It has a few problems that keep me from granting the film 5 stars, but I can be comfortable giving this film 4.5 stars.
