TCM to Set Sail Aboard Disney Magic for Third TCM Classic Cruise

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) is preparing to hit the high seas once again for the third TCM Classic Cruise. Slated for Dec. 8-13, 2013, the cruise will take place aboard the Disney Magic, the Disney Cruise Line ship that ranked #1 in a Conde Nast readers poll. In addition, TCM will stage its fifth annual TCM Classic Film Festival in April 2014, coinciding with the network's 20th anniversary.

The TCM Classic Cruise will sail from Miami with stops in Nassau and Castaway Cay, one of Disney's luxurious private-island getaways. Additional details and pricing will be announced in mid-May on the cruise website – http://TCMCruise.com. Tickets will go on sale to the public on Monday, June 3.

TCM host Robert Osborne announced the news about TCM's upcoming cruise and 2014 festival Sunday night during his closing remarks for the 2013 TCM Classic Film Festival, which welcomed 25,000 of movie fans from all 50 states and other countries for four days of screenings, guest appearances, panel discussions and much more.

"This past January, we had a wonderful time on our second TCM Classic Cruise, which featured special guests Debbie Reynolds, Mickey Rooney, Arlene Dahl, Sally Ann Howes and Norman Lloyd, along with the hilarious Rich Little and game show host Alex Trebek," Osborne told the crowd just before the closing-night screening of Buster Keaton's silent comedy classic The General (1926). "We chose the Disney Magic for our next cruise because of its state-of-the-art theater and other remarkable, newly renovated facilities. TCM fans should start making plans to join us for what it certain to be the trip of a lifetime."

Osborne also offered his thoughts on this year's TCM Classic Film Festival, which included appearances by Tippi Hedren, Mel Brooks, Carl Reiner, Mickey Rooney and Mitzi Gaynor, to name a few. Jane Fonda, Max Von Sydow, Ann Blyth and documentary filmmaker Albert Maysles were each on hand for celebrations of their contributions to film. And Eva Marie Saint joined Robert Osborne for an extended conversation to be aired next spring on TCM. TCM host Ben Mankiewicz, shared hosting duties with Osborne during the festival, introducing films and conducting interviews throughout the weekend. In addition to the world premiere of a brand new restoration of The General, the festival featured premieres of the newly restored Badlands (1973), Funny Girl (1968), The Great Escape (1963), Giant (1956), Open the Waterfront (1954) and The Big Parade (1925), among others
