Weekend Movie Releases and Six September Showcases

This is the closing weekend of Nice Work If You Can Get It at Musical Hall at Fair Park.  The Gershwins are a most fitting close to the 74th season of Dallas Summer Musicals.  Click thru for the movie releases for this weekend and 6 September Must-See events.

A Five Star Life is a delightful trip that tackles the question of whether a family is more important than the individual.  Margherita Buy plays the independent Irene, a luxury hotel critic, with a wonderful mixture of outward confidence and inner struggle.  Her journey to the world's finest cities and hotels masks a void that slowly engulfs her life.  Luckily the audience can enjoy the scenic beauty while also marveling at Margherita's enlightening inner journey.  A lead performance that deserves high praise and recognition in award season.

For a completely unique turn at the "coming-of-age" story there is German film Wetlands.  Young Carla Juri is a marvel as the Eighteen year-old Helen Memel.  The film doesn't shy away from any taboo and certainly will test some audiences sensabilities.  But through all the vulgarity is an honest and open look at one girl's way of handling the impact of divorce on her life.  Easily a film that will cause much debate and fervor.

This week's movie releases are a strong showcase of the power of talented actresses who the camera adores.
