2016 DFW South Asian Film Festival Unveils Final Lineup

The 2016 Dallas/Fort Worth South Asian Film Festival (DFW SAFF) will showcase 13 award-winning shorts, documentaries and feature films that have been consciously-curated for the North Texas audience from Feb. 19th to the 21st at the Perot Museum in downtown Dallas and the Angelika Film Center in Plano. Filmmakers, actors, local celebrities & VIPs will walk the red carpet on opening night and add glamor to the festivities. In addition to film screenings, the festival will also include post-screening Q&A sessions, networking events and after parties. 

JINGO Media, a Dallas & NYC-based events management company, produces the annual festival. Principal & CEO Jitin Hingorani says: "We're so humbled and elated to have more than 25 local and national brands affiliated with our second-year festival as sponsors and partners. We strive to bring quality, independent film programming through Texas, U.S. and North American premieres to DFW audiences, and we hope people will leave our festival with a better understanding of our South Asian community and an appreciation for our cultures."

Friday, Feb. 19th – Perot Museum, Downtown Dallas

  • Miss India America – Opening Night Feature Film

 

Saturday, Feb. 20th – Angelika Film Center in Plano

Education Programming: 

  • I Say, Bhallaji – Short feature
  • The Backward Class – Documentary

Arts Programming: 

  • Blue Like Me – Short Documentary
  • Spaces Between – Short Documentary

Documentary:

  • Help Us Find Sunil Tripathi

Women's Programming: 

  • Saankal (Shackle) – Feature Film

Men's Programming: 

  • Vanvaas – Short film 
  • Umrika – Centerpiece Feature Film

 

Sunday, Feb. 21st – Angelika Film Center in Plano

Family Programming: 

  • Super Girl – Short Feature (ages 6 and up)
  • Dhanak – Feature Film (ages 6 and up)

Documentary:

  • Amma Y Appa – documentary feature

***Surprise Closing Night Film 

  • North American Premiere (to be announced next week)

Tickets for ALL the films are available on our web site, www.dfwsaff.com, along with the timings, trailers and synopses. Festival passes are $150 and provide admission for all 13 films, as well as two after-parties that include food & alcohol.
