Austin Film Festival 2019 – Interview with Dave Buckman

The Austin Film Festival just wrapped its 26th festival and conference.  The writer-centric festival has been a staple destination point for writers, filmmakers and so many lovers of the conference/festival experience.  For our press team this marked our 11th year of coverage.  A veteran of the festival and an transplant to ATX since 2004 comedian/director/improv coach Dave Buckman chatted with us earlier this week.  Check out our interview of the funny Dave Buckman as we talk about his Second City roots, his jump to BOOM Chicago, fun times in Amsterdam, and of course his favorite taco in Austin!

Dave Buckman has directed, taught and performed at some of the world’s leading improvisational comedy institutions. After several years studying and teaching improv in Chicago, Dave served as Artistic Director of Boom Chicago in Amsterdam, where he was fortunate to work with and direct some of the funniest people working in television and film, such as Seth Meyers, Jordan Peele, Ike Barinholtz, Jason Sudeikis and many more. He culminated his run in Europe with directing the second stage-swap with The Second City’s Main Stage in its 50 year history, After Europe, Dave worked as a director and teacher at The Second City in Chicago and Cleveland. Since 2005, Dave has been living in Austin, TX with wife and creative partner Rachel Madorsky, teaching and performing improv weekly at ColdTowne Theater. He is now the Executive Producer of ColdTowne and Austin SketchFest and is also Senior Producer for The Out Of Bounds Comedy Festival, held every Labor Day in beautiful Austin, TX. He also appears frequently in features, commercials and TV shows and has hosted the AFF Awards ceremony four years running.   AFF26 Website.

And now here is my chat with Dave about all that and much more.
