Time for the 11th Annual Chick Flicks Film Festival! Women in Film.Dallas presents 3 nights of female filmmakers from Texas and beyond. Films with women calling the shots from behind the camera, as director, producer, executive producer, writer, cinematographer, and editor. Festival dates are October 16-18 at the Angelika – Dallas, all screenings start at 7 p.m. with a Filmmaker Q&A following.

October 16 – WONDER WOMEN! The Untold Story of American Superheroines

This film traces the fascinating evolution and legacy of Wonder Woman. From the birth of the comic book superheroine in the 1940s to the blockbusters of today, WONDER WOMEN! looks at how popular representations of powerful women often reflect society’s anxieties about women’s liberation. October 17 – Girls! Girls! Girls!
This anthology feature of 6 short films written, produced, shot, edited and directed entirely by women. Women of all ages, race and backgrounds have created a short, each from a different genre, with a perspective on feminine power. Girls!Girls!Girls! is a dynamic movement that is proactively creating more opportunities in key artistic roles for female filmmakers, while fostering mentorships with young women. October 18 – Short Film Competition – Short Flicks by Texas Chicks
The Chick Flicks Committee selected 7 short flicks by Texas Chicks, we will be awarding a Jury Award and a Student Award for the films selected by our judges Meredith Stephens and Julia Dyer. There will also be a chance to vote on the Audience Award so come out to make your pick!
