The 26th annual DANCES WITH FILMS festival opens today June 22nd, 2023. The festival runs through July 2nd at the iconic Chinese Theater in the heart of Hollywood. Our Gadi Elkon interviewed filmmakers and talent from the festival’s films this year. Writer /Director/Actress Sara Friedman talked with Gadi about her feature film HEIGHTENED.
Following a mental breakdown, social anxiety and OCD-riddled Nora returns to Maine to live with her emotionally distant parents. While she undergoes court-ordered psychiatric treatment, Nora’s world is further upended when she is assigned to volunteer at a local state park. Her awkward assignment begins to show promise as her anxiety subsides in the company of her new supervisor Dusty, who is dealing with crippling issues of his own. Eventually, Nora and Dusty band together to overcome the obstacles their socially complicated world presents.
HEIGHTENED has its World Premiere tomorrow night at DWF 2023. Sara and Gadi talked about filming back home in Maine, gathering her cast, the realities of her characters and so much more!
