DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS – A Review by Cynthia Flores

DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS – A Review by Cynthia Flores

In 2016, we in the moviegoing world were introduced to actor Benedict Cumberbatch as the excellent Doctor Strange. He has appeared as this character in several other big films since then. However, this is only the second time we have seen a movie all about him and his life. It is populated by such people as Dr. Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams), Sorcerer Supreme Wong (Benedict Wong), Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), and new to the group is America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez), a young girl in need of help.

Before I go on, let me tell you that I loved Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, I would highly recommend that children ten and under not be brought to see this one for two reasons. First, this film earned its PG-13 rating by going deep into the horror side of things. There are a lot of moments that will give young kids nightmares for weeks to come. Second, the complex theory of multiverses and alternative realities is not something most small children are reading about or would really understand. So, book a babysitter. Enjoy the movie without having your child throwing up because of the spinning motion on the screen or asking you what is happening now.

Now for my review. WARNING: there will be no spoilers in my review. “WHAT!!!” you may ask, “Don’t you rat bastard movie reviewers live to be the first to blab all the good stuff online about new movies?” The answer to that question is usually yes. Duh! But since this film is wall to wall, and even after the credits spoilers, what fun would it be to ruin your enjoyment of watching it first.

So, after getting back my original review of the film that was submitted to the office of the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for approval, this is all I am officially allowed to say about the plot:

In Marvel Studios’ “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” the MCU unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. Journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.

As I said, this film has wall-to-wall spoilers and not just plot twists. So much fun for fans of Marvel characters to enjoy.

I give Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness 4.5-stars. It’s a hell of a ride. So any Marvel fans in this multiverse should run and not walk to the nearest theater, preferably an IMAX one, and watch this fun film on the big screen before anyone leaks any of the delicious plot surprises.
