Marc Lapadula

Dr. Marc Lapadula according to ODU:

Marc Lapadula is a Senior Lecturer in the Film Studies Program at Yale University. He is a playwright, screenwriter and an award-winning film producer. In addition to Yale, Marc has taught at Columbia University's Graduate Film School, created the screenwriting programs at both The University of Pennsylvania and Johns Hopkins where he won outstanding teaching awards and has lectured on film, playwriting and conducted highly-acclaimed screenwriting seminars all across the country at notable venues like The National Press Club in Washington DC, The Smithsonian Institution, The New York Historical Society for One Day University, The New School, The National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, The Commonwealth Club in San Francisco for IvyConnect and many other places.

Marc and I started our chat by discussing his background a bit more.

Dr. Lapadula does have a different description of his lectures that he prefers to all others.

Marc's One Day University lectures ranges from 10, 8, 5, and 4 films that changed/impacted America and for this upcoming lecture here is the films he's going to be discussing.

I Am a Fugitive From a Chain Gang
The Graduate
Easy Rider
China Syndrome
Jaws

We talked about I Am a Fugitive From a Chain Gang.

Our Easy Rider discussion lead to a chat about the social impact films should have, but sadly don't seem to have in modern films.

We did discuss the impact that foreign filmmakers have had on our movie lexicon.

Speaking of foreign filmmakers, we had a great conversation about the Oscar winner Birdman.

We ended our chat by discussing the fear factor behind China Syndrome and how it has a real personal connection to Marc's lectures.

Marc and I talked for over an hour about film and it's impact on the world.  It was an enlightening discussion about the way in which films like JAWS have completely changed the money behind films and thus the corporate impact on the movie business.  Overall I can't push more strongly how fun and entertaining One Day University will be.  Don't miss out!  And to help motivate you some more.  After this next picture please utilize the below code to get 25% off tickets to the March 30th ODU.
