STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER – A Review by Hollywood Hernandez

STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER – A Review by Hollywood Hernandez

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is the ninth installment in the Star Wars movie series.  Somewhere at about the sixth movie, the series got really way off course after George Lucas left the series.  Most of that blame went to J.J. Abrams but in this final Star Wars movie, Abrams should get the credit for wrapping up the movie series on a positive note.

While some of the previous movies were a bit confusing and figuring out the new characters without a program was a real task for the average moviegoer, The Rise of Skywalker is a straight-ahead story of good against evil in a story that is easy for the most casual of Star Wars fans to understand.  The movie also has some surprises and the alien creatures are back as the best of the best from any previous movie.  With the exception of the original, this final entry in the Star Wars saga may be the most enjoyable of them all.

It’s an interesting, yet simple plot.  The Resistance faces the First Order, the good guys vs the bad guys, for one last time with some great plot twists and special effects.

Rey, played by Daisy Ridley, leads the Jedi rebels against the Sith, who are led into battle by Kylo Ren, played by Adam Driver.  The evil Galactic Emperor, Palpatine, played by Scottish actor Ian McDiarmid, is just as creepy and sinister as he was in the previous Star Wars movies beginning with the 1980s The Empire Strikes Back.

Chewie, Lando (Billy Dee Williams), Finn (played by John Boyega), and all of the good characters from the previous movies like C-3PO, and R2-D2 are all back for this one last go-round for the movie.  Carrie Fisher appears through archival footage and Mark Hamill is in the finale as Luke Skywalker.

In what promises to be one of the eagerly anticipated movies of the holiday season, moviegoers will be delighted with this final Star Wars movie.  The movie is rated PG-13 and runs 2 hours and 21 minutes.  On my “Hollywood Popcorn Scale Rating” Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker gets my highest possible rating a JUMBO (with extra butter)!
